Destiny Medical Limited is seeking a dedicated Care Assistant / Support Worker to provide high-quality support to two key groups within the community: children on the autism spectrum and older adults. This is a varied and fulfilling position that allows you to make a meaningful difference across generations.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting Children on the Autism Spectrum

  • Build trusting and supportive relationships by understanding each child’s unique needs, interests, and communication style.
  • Plan and participate in engaging community activities such as swimming, bowling, park visits, cinema trips, and football matches.
  • Encourage creative play and indoor activities, including arts and crafts, bubbles play, and other sensory experiences.
  • Provide consistent guidance to promote confidence, social development, and independence.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and structured environment at all times.

Supporting Older Adults

  • Offer compassionate companionship and practical support to enhance well-being and independence.
  • Encourage participation in meaningful activities like gentle walks, café visits, and local outings.
  • Support hobbies, reading, and social visits to maintain mental and emotional engagement.
  • Assist with light errands and appointments as required.
  • Always uphold the dignity, respect, and autonomy of each individual.

About You – Essential Criteria

  • Driver: You must hold a full UK driving licence, have access to a vehicle.
  • Experience: Demonstrable experience supporting children or young people with autism (ASD), with an understanding of effective support strategies.
  • Compassionate & Patient: Naturally empathetic, calm, and supportive with individuals of all ages.
  • Energetic & Proactive: Confident engaging in a range of physical and social activities – from football to leisurely walks.
  • Excellent Communicator: Skilled in both verbal and non-verbal communication, able to build rapport with individuals who communicate differently.
  • Reliable & Trustworthy: Dependable, punctual, and respectful of confidentiality.
  • Flexible: Comfortable working varied hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on individual needs.
